Macbook Pro i5 for sale

I have decided to make this as effective and straightforward as possible for anyone deciding to check this out.  Usually, people selling a system don't want to go through the effort of testing all the components; I have done this, documented it, and am sharing it with you!  Everything will be proven to work, so there is no way you will get a DOA system.  Let's go!

Here it is, and as you can see, this is a beautiful little 13" Macbook pro.  This is a 2.3 i5 with 4 gigs of speedy 1333 DDR3 Ram.  It will expand to 16GB if desired!  I have another Macbook, so there was no need for me to max this out.

All these pictures were taken just this morning, and I am creating this post on the Macbook!  Everything works flawlessly, and the cosmetic condition is a 9 out of 10.

Here it is in it's resting state. The picture is beautiful, and the LCD screen is bright and the colors are lovely.  I calibrated the screen so as to maximize its image quality for photo editing.

Wireless works fantastic.  Here I am browsing Yahoo's homepage.

Apart from this scrape (and some very normal scratches on the bottom)  there are no dings anywhere on the machine.

A common sore spot is the corners, as the soft aluminum gets dented easily.  Here I show the only spot on the machine that looks like it took a small bump, and it is barely noticeable. There is no mark; the only way you know it was bumped is when the machine is closed, there's a slight curve on this corner.

No problems on this side, or on any of the other corners.

The slot for the Superdrive never got stepped on or squished, and it ejects disks just fine.

No dirt, dust or crud anywhere on the machine, it's super clean!

Here is the bottom of the case.  Barely any wear at all, and the serial and other etched letters are all clear and legible, indicating this machine was well maintained and not just tossed naked into a backpack for years.  The screws are currently out as I took the bottom cover off to clean the INSIDE of the machine.  This shows you it has all feet, and is a 9/10.

The one "major" scratch underneath.  Not bad.

Not brand new, but really normal wear and tear for a 3 year old machine.

For full disclosure:  as far as flaws goes, this is it.  Here we have what looks like a stain on the LCD panel from perhaps the glass glue; it is invisible if you have an image on the screen, but when the machine has a dark image you can see this faint outline.  I didn't notice it for months after I was using this machine, so unless you're a graphics artist who needs the 13" internal to be perfect, you may never be bothered by this.

The LCD flaw from 1 foot away.

I can't see it when there is any picture on the screen, and of course when an external monitor is connected, there is no issue so it is definitely NOT with the graphics card, it's a screen issue that could potentially be solved with a new screen.  As the expense to fix such a minor problem would be around 200.00, I couldn't justify fixing this as it never bothered me.

At 6 inches away.  Can you see it?  I actually can't with a picture onscreen.

Here you can see a disc mounted in the Superdrive.  I considered adding a Boot Camp partition with Windows, but thought better of it as you may have no desire to have that space taken up.  It's certainly capable though!

After pressing eject...

The disk will come out within 3 seconds with no assistance.  I also burned 2 discs on Friday at 24x, and they worked great.

Here you can see my mouse and keyboard are showing up fine in Bluetooth preferences.  I put this machine 8 feet away from the coffee table, connect my projector, and control it with these bluetooth devices for Netflix or HBOGo.

In USB Slot one, my external works very nicely.

After ejecting...

Now it's in slot #2, no worries.

All the slots are clean, no dents or dings, and work fantastic.

The 60 watt adapter that came with the machine is still in great shape.
What's amazing is that this screenshot shows a brand new battery, with 20 cycles on it (at 100% brightness) is displaying over a 6 hour running time!  This would be amazing, but in the real world it's only about 4 hours...still very respectable.  Mavericks made some improvements about how the system manages the power, and it squeezes the maximum amount of time out of the battery for using your computer normally.  Even when watching video- no worries about hitting the road.

I have been charging it for about 5 minutes when this picture was taken, and left it plugged in so you can see how much life the brand new battery still has left in it.  I have left this machine sitting unused for a week, and still had lots of charge left on it.  Sitting in Sleep mode will give you easily 100 hours of standby power.  If you're just on the battery, you'll get more than 4 hours, which is long enough to sit through Saving Private Ryan on a plane.

The very last pic in the slideshow is after charging for 2 more hours, and you can see how the numbers add up when it's fully charged.

One of my favorite applications is coconutBattery, which easily displays all battery stats in an easy to see display.  Perfect!  When you get to the last image, you'll see a fully charged state using coconutBattery.

Here I just plugged in my sound card, the inimitable FireWire Focusrite Saffire PRO 14.  You can see it's not synched with FireWire yet, as this machine never had it installed.

I install the software....

...and it's done.  It's asking for a reboot to finish the installation.

Check the time...not quite synched with the camera but ok.

BONG!

In about 60 seconds, it's rebooted.

FireWire synched!  Ready to rock and roll.  If I wanted to plug in a guitar and start jamming in Garage Band, I could!
I love having an external sound card that's not taking up a USB slot, but I have definitely daisy chained up to 4 USB devices with no issues, including external thumb drives, mouses, and printers.

Now I will turn off the WiFi to display the Ethernet functionality.

I plug in a CAT6 cable, and Netflix is raring to go in seconds.

Nope, no Wifi!

The N adapter is plenty fast enough to stream high definition video, but it's easy enough to get a lag-free connection from the gigabit ethernet adapter if you have a need for SPEED.

Here I'll showcase the external Minidisplay Port adapter functionality.

Works perfectly.  Great for an external monitor or projector.  I easily ran 2560 x 1920 on my 30" display on this machine!!!  You of course will need the extra Dual-link Displayport Adapter to do that, but I found a cheap one on eBay (of course!).

Now I will showcase every specification screen in which there is hardware, and if it doesn't exist I left those screens out.

Camera?

Oh yeah!  The FaceTime camera works too.

Here I'm PhotoBoothing our kitty.  I'll leave the image on the computer because it's cute.

The awesome power of Thunderbolt cannot be understated.  This is available on all new Apple machines, and considering that you could buy a 27" monitor and run it at 2560x1920, and then hook up FireWire to it, tells you something about the power of this bus.  I don't have any Thunderbolt devices, but it uses the same Minidisplay Port connection that I showed with the external monitor, so I know it's okay.

This machine will be able to run any new software, and considering it has all the new iLife apps installed along with Mavericks, it's already useful.  I will also leave the few apps I have installed, which you could feel free to remove.

This is a great machine....thanks for checking it out, I hope I was as thorough as I could be, but if you're interested in knowing anything else, give me a shout at davedeanda@gmail.com.
